What's new in the VC Catalog?

Discover an upgrade VC Catalog: ASINs from recent retail reports are in, and no deletions during migration. Keep track of relevance, explore new columns, and learn about shifts in catalog content.

Why is this necessary at all?

Amazon discreetly implemented a restriction on the VC catalog, allowing a maximum selection of 10,000 ASINs. As a consequence, fetching the catalog via Vendor Central is no longer viable.

Which items end up in the catalog?
All ASINs that have been recorded in the retail reports (Sales, Inventory, Traffic) within the last 365 days.

Do you delete ASINs during migration?

No ASIN will be deleted during the process. ASINs that do not appear in reports of the last 365 days but have been in the VC catalog, will be set to "irrelevant".

When are new items added?
As soon as they pop up in any of the reports mentioned above for the first time.

When are items removed from the catalog?
ASINs will not be removed automatically from the new catalog. ASINs that do not show up in the above mentioned reports for 365 days, will be set to "irrelevant" in the catalog.

Which items are being tracked?
Tracking is now driven by relevance. Check out the new column "relevance" showing the status "relevant" or "irrelevant". If an item is set to "relevant", it's tracked; if it is set to "irrelevant", tracking is disabled.

When is an ASIN "relevant" or "irrelevant"?
Relevant ASIN are those reported in the last 365 days, basically the entire scope of the new catalog.

ASINs that do not show up in the above mentioned reports for 365 days, will be set to "irrelevant" in the catalog.

What happens to data in custom columns?
No worries, your existing custom columns are being seamlessly carried over. No action required on this front.

Any column additions or removals?
"Availability"-column is moved to the "custom"-columns. However, "Relevance" (relevant/irrelevant) is a new VC column, signaling whether a product is tracked.

"Cost Price" is turning into a custom column. For items with known cost prices, this data is making its way to the new catalog.

"UPC" is being deprecated without any successor.

"SKU" will be moved to Custom Columns.

Any substantial changes to the Catalog content?
Yes, the catalog title for certain item types will change. Take clothing, for instance—the new title will differ from the old VC Catalog. This new title might include size and sometimes even color. It's possible similar shifts will occur with other product types.

What if important ASINs are missing—can we add them?
Yes, that is possible. However, you cannot upload missing ASINs yourself. If vital ASINs are missing, we can add them. Just provide a list of the items to success@emax-digital.com that need adding.

What has been excluded from the catalog?

Availability information is exclusively accessible through Vendor Central. For items with already known status, their most recent record is maintained. Conversely, for items making their debut in the new catalog, this information will be automatically maintained as it was before. Nonetheless, there is the option to adjust the "availability" status manually.

What should be kept in mind when onboarding new vendors?
Good news: the catalog creation process is now automated. Just connect the Selling Partner API through the "Login with Amazon"-button, and the emax digital does the rest.
