Product Variations Monitor Walkthrough

Learn about features in the Product Variation Monitor

*Please note: the video depicts an older version of the Variations Monitor, but it provides details about the basic functions, which remain the same.*

💡In order to use the Variations Monitor, you have to upload an identifier per Child ASIN in the column "Additional Parent ASIN" in your catalog in emax digital. The identifier can be an actual Parent ASIN, but can be any word or combination of characters.

You can find the Product Variation Monitor 🔗here.

Possible Filter Options

In the Variations Monitor, you can find a filter section at the top of the dashboard. You can use the following options to filter the list of ASINs displayed in the table below:

  • Marketplace: Select a marketplace.
  • Catalog Category: Select a category from your catalog to filter a group of ASINs with that category.
  • Catalog Sub-Category: Select a sub-category from your catalog to filter a group of ASINs with that sub-category.
  • Catalog Tag: Select one or many tags from your catalog to filter a group of ASINs with the selected tags.
  • Variation Status: Select one or no specific variation status of the displayed Child ASINs. Each Child-ASIN is labelled with one of the following status types (Please note: Per default the table is filtered for "Broken"-variations. In order to see all Child ASINs' variation status, you can delete the filter):
    • Broken: Child ASINs with the same "Additional Parent ASIN" are displayed on multiple Detail Pages with more than one Parent ASIN.
    • Correct: Child-ASINs with the same "Additional Parent ASIN" are displayed on one Detail Page as variations.
    • Without Additional Parent: The Child-ASINs do not have a value in the column "Additional Parent ASIN" in the catalog. Meaning: The Variations Monitor cannot track the variation status.
    • Without Parent on Detail Page: The ASIN's detail page does not display a Parent ASIN (i.e. it does not have any variations).
  • ASIN: Select one or many specific ASINs through the ASIN or the product title.
  • Parent ASIN on Detail Page: Select one or many Parent ASINs displayed on the detail pages.
  • Additional Parent ASIN: Select one or many Additional Parent ASINs from your catalog.

💡To find information how to upload "Category", "Sub-Category", "Tags", "Additional Parent ASIN" and other filter data to your catalog please check the documentation on the Vendor Catalog and Seller Catalog.

Monitor results

The Product Variation Monitor consists of two sections:

Upper section shows a pie chart summary and stacked area chart of the development of the distribution of child ASINs per Variation Status over time.

Lower section gives you detailed information on each Child ASINs' variation status in a table. Each row on the table shows one Child-ASIN, "Product Title", the "Parent ASIN on the Detail Page" and the "Additional Parent ASIN" that has been uploaded to the catalog.

Next to each Child ASIN you can find a colored quick check of its variation status:

- Green check: The Child ASIN belongs to the same "Parent on Detail Page" and "Additional Parent ASIN" like other Child ASIN with the same "Additional Parent ASIN".

- Yellow exclamation mark: No "Additional Parent ASIN" has been uploaded for this Child ASIN into the catalog. Monitoring cannot check Variation Status.

- Red cross: The Child ASIN belongs to a group of ASINs with an "Additional Parent ASIN" with several "Parent ASINs on the Detail Pages".

- Empty (no color): The Child ASIN does not have a "Parent ASIN on its Detail Page" and is not part of any variation (regardless whether their is an "Additional Parent ASIN" uploaded to the catalog for it.
