How to Use the 'Buy Box Status' in the Buy Box & Price Monitor and Content Monitor

Understanding the differences of the Buy Box Status information across the Buy Box & Price Monitor and Content Monitor

The status of your Product Detail Pages, including the Buy Box Status is a vital piece of information for your success on Amazon. This status can be checked using two different metrics: 'Buy Box Price Status' (or 'BB Price Status') in the Buy Box & Price Monitor and 'Detail Page Status' in the Content Monitor. While these two metrics serve the same purpose—showing the status of the Buy Box on each product's detail page—they have different names due to the different data sources used.

Key Differences Between the Buy Box & Price Monitor and Content Monitor

It's important to note that the data you see in the Buy Box & Price Monitor and the Content Monitor may differ for a couple of reasons:

  1. Time Component: The Buy Box Price Status in the Buy Box & Price Monitor pulls the latest available data from Amazon’s API, typically reflecting the status as of the previous day. While this gives you a good sense of recent activity, there may be minor discrepancies from what customers see on the Product Detail Page.

  2. Data Sources: The Detail Page Status in the Content Monitor, on the other hand, can show data that is up to a week old, depending on your license type. The Content Monitor visits the Product Detail Page to see exactly what is displayed to the customer, which may be more reflective of the current Buy Box status, but with the delay of data retrieval.

Best Practices for Monitoring the Buy Box Status

To ensure you’re getting the most accurate and timely data, we recommend the following approach:

  • Use the Buy Box & Price Monitor with the time filter set to "Yesterday." This will ensure that you see the most recent, accurate data from the API, which is generally the closest to real-time.

  • Understand Filter Persistence: If you use filters like "Top 100 Sales," the system will remember your filter settings for your next visit. This allows for a smoother and more personalized experience without needing to reapply filters each time.

Why You Might See Discrepancies

  • Amazon Data Limitations: In rare cases, the data available through the API may not exactly match what customers see on the Product Detail Page, as this is subject to Amazon’s updates and adjustments.

  • Licensing and Data Retrieval: The difference in how often the Buy Box Price Status in the Buy Box & Price Monitor and the Detail Page Status in the Content Monitor fetch data may also result in variations in the information displayed. The Content Monitor visits actual Product Detail Pages at least once every week, while the Buy Box & Price Monitor relies on API data, which is retrieved daily. The Content Monitor can be upgraded to a daily monitoring as well. Please reach out to your customer support team to learn about your options.
